Astro K-pop boyband member Moonbin was found dead in his apartment in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, in an apparent suicide. He was 25 years old.

Although the official cause of death is yet to be determined, police officials believe that Moonbin took his own life and “are considering conducting an autopsy while investigating the cause of death,” according to Yonhap News TV.

His body was discovered around 8:10 pm on Wednesday. His manager immediately called the police. Fantagio, his agency, is yet to issue a statement about the death.

After making his comeback with the ASTRO unit group with Sanha, Moonbin was scheduled to host a fan con tour. However, in light of recent events, the organizers have decided to cancel the event. Here is the statement regarding the same:

“With heavy heart, we would like to inform you that the 2023 Moonbon & Sanha Fan Con Tour: Diffusion in Jakarta to be held on May 13 is cancelled. After long discussion and consideration, we have to cancel this event due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control that we could not avoid.”

Who is Moonbin?

Moonbin was born on January 26, 1998, in Cheongju, Chungbuk Province. He graduated from Hanlim Multi Art School, with a degree in Practical Music. His younger sister, Moon Sua, is a member of the South Korean girl group Billie.

Moonbin debuted as a child model in 2004. He appeared in TVXQ’s music video for their song Balloons in 2006. Three years later, he made his acting debut in the Korean drama Boys over Flowers. Since he was in the fifth grade Moonbin was a trainee of Fantagio.

He debuted as part of the six-member boy group Astro on February 23, 2016. Moonbin and bandmate Yoon Sanha debuted as Astro’s first sub-unit Moonbin & Sanha along with the release of In-Out.
