Raja Babu, a well-known Telugu actor, died on Sunday due to health problems. He was 64. According to reports, he had been suffering from health issues for years until his condition worsened recently. Raja Babu rose to prominence while performing in some critically acclaimed films and working primarily on television shows.

His death has greatly saddened his industry friends and acquaintances, and condolence messages have been pouring in on social media.

Punyamurthula Appalaraju, well known by his stage name ‘Raja Babu’ was an Indian actor and comedian best known for his roles in Telugu cinema. He was regarded as one of the best Telugu comic performers. Raja Babu’s birthplace of Rajamundry, Andhra Pradesh, was honoured with a 9-foot-tall bronze statue in 2012.

Raja Babu made his acting debut in 1995 with the film ‘Ooriki Monagadu’. Since then, he has appeared in over 64 films and television series as a supporting actor. The actor was also well known for his roles in the films like ‘Sindhooram’ and ‘Samudram,’ both directed by Krishna Vamsi. He also played a lead actor role in films like  Pichodi Pelli, Tata Manavadu, Thirupathi, Evariki Vaare Yamuna Teere, and Manishi Rodduna Paddadau, among others.

In 2005, he won the Nandi Award for his performance in the show “Amma,” one of his most notable performances. He was noted for his amazing sense of comedy in real life, even though he typically played serious roles. His colleagues affectionately referred to him as ‘Baba.’

Vinara Suramma and Vishayam Chebutanu performed a comedy song  in the film, IlluIllalu that went on to become the film’s high point and was heard all over the place. In the film, he played the lead role of Giri, Manavadu’s grandson. Tata Manavadu, accompanied by Dasari Narayana Rao, teaches his father a lesson. Anjali Devi and S. V. Ranga Rao were among the cast members. Under the name Bob and Bob Creations, he created a few pictures, including Manishi Rodduna Paddadu and EvarikiVaare Yamuna Teeru.
