Rick Anderson, the founding member of the San Francisco rock band The Tubes died on December 16, 2022, at the age of 75.

He is the rock group’s second member to die in 2022.

On December 18, the band stated, “We lost our brother on 12/16/22.” Although the statement did not include details of his cause of death, the band wrote, “Rick brought a steady and kind presence to the band for 50 years. His love came through his bass. RIP.”

Re Styles, the group’s singer, was the first member of the rock band The Tubes who died this year on April 17, 2022, at the age of 72 after complications of a stroke.

Who was Rick Anderson?

Rick Anderson was born on August 1, 1947, in Saint Paul, Minnesota of the United States.

He was the founding member of the rock band, The Tubes. He co-founded the band in 1972 and was the band’s bassist. Earlier, he used to work in The Beans along with his band mates of The Tubes Bill Spooner, Bob McIntosh, and Vince Welnick.

Rick’s band got its fame initially in 1973 after they secured a supporting slot with Led Zeppelin and then signed a record label deal.

Anderson from their debut year 1975 to 1996 played in all eight albums of his band The Tubes. He worked with the band for fifty years. He has played on songs like She’s a Beauty, Talk to Ya Later, Don’t Touch Me There, What Do you Want from Life? and White Punks on Dope. His pop hit She’s a Beauty was in the top 10 in the year 1983.

Anderson and his band performed a duet on the song Dancin with Olivia Newton-John in a musical feature Xanadu. It went at No.4 in the United States and then also went double platinum.

Anderson believed that Xanadu’s exposure made the platform for the band’s breakout disc.

On December 18, 2022, the rock band The Tubes took to social media and informed about Anderson’s death but did not mention any details of the same.

Anderson died on December 16, 2022, at the age of 75.
