Actor Sally Kellerman died on Thursday morning at her California home after a battle with dementia, the Hollywood Reporter reported, quoting her son. She was 84.

Who was Sally Kellerman?

Born in Long Beach, California, in 1937, to an oil executive father and piano teacher mother, Kellerman was a waitress in Hollywood in the 1950s. 

“I waited on more stars than I worked with in my entire career,” she told The Los Angeles Times in 2013.

She then auditioned for her role of US Army Maj. Margaret “Hot Lips” Houlihan in the film ‘M*A*S*H’ and bagged the part.

“There were times in my life when I felt I had to go out and prove that I’m not just Hot Lips. But at this point, just call me anything you want!” she told the New York Post in 2010.

Kellerman went on to act in the 1986 comedy ‘Back to School.’ She also made an appearance in a number of TV shows such as ‘The Outer Limits,’ ‘Ben Casey,’ ‘That Girl’ and ‘Mannix.’   

Sally Kellerman’s husband – 

The actor was married twice. She first married Rick Edelstein in 1970. They decided to part ways after two years of marriage due to “irreconcilable differences.”

In 1980, Sally tied the knot with Jonathan D. Krane. The two were together until his death in 2016.

“So sorry to report the sudden passing on Monday of my beloved husband Jonathan D. Krane. Thankfully our twins Jack and Hannah are both with me. I am totally devastated,” she said in a statement while confirming her husband’s death.

Sally Kellerman’s children – 

The actor had three children – Hannah Krane, Jack Krane, and Claire Kelleman.

Claire is her niece who she went on to adopt. Hannah and Jack are also reportedly her adopted children.
