South Korean boy band BTS will soon be on its way to the White House to have talks with US President Joe Biden over anti-Asian hate crimes, according to a report by Deadline.

The meeting, which is scheduled for Tuesday, comes right before May ends. The month of May is known as the Asian American Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islanders Heritage Month (AANHPI Heritage Month).

“President Biden has previously spoken about his commitment to combating the surge of anti-Asian hate crimes and signed into law the COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act in May 2021 to provide law enforcement with resources to identify, investigate, and report hate crimes and ensure that hate crimes information is more accessible to AA and NHPI communities,” the White House said.

“President Biden and BTS will also discuss the importance of diversity and inclusion and BTS’ platform as youth ambassadors who spread a message of hope and positivity across the world,” the White House added.

Just last week, American singer-songwriter Selena Gomez made an appearance with First Lady Jill Biden at a mental health awareness event. Earlier this month, American socialite Paris Hilton paid a visit to the White House to have a discussion with administration officials about child abuse and “the disturbing lack of government oversight of youth residential care facilities.”
