The Miss USA pageant has been making controversies ever since the results were announced in October 2022. Recently, the much sought-after crown stirred the internet once again as R’Bonney Gabriel crowned Morgan Romano, the new Miss USA.

Earlier this month, Gabriel won the Miss Universe pageant and made America proud. However, the allegations of getting favored by the Miss USA pageant authorities and subsequently, by the international pageant were not silenced. Following the widespread rumors, the title of Miss USA has been awarded to the first runner-up and Miss North Carolina, Morgan Romano.

Why was Morgan Romano crowned Miss USA?

The controversy began when Gabriel has crowned Miss USA in October 2022. Following the ceremony, Gabriel was accused of rigging the competition or at least, being favored by the pageant authorities. Recently, Gabriel won the Miss Universe crown and again faced the rigging allegations.

This led to the former Miss USA giving up her title to the first runner-up, Romano. The subsequent ceremony took place at Auburn University during the preliminary competition of Miss Alabama Teen USA and Miss Alabama USA 2023.

Romano shared the news on her Instagram account with the caption, “I’m all yours, USA.’ Gabriel noticeably shared her disappointment over the allegations. She reportedly said, “The hardest part was I felt like I didn’t have a voice at times as Miss USA.”

The new Miss USA, Romano, is a chemical engineer. She has also shared her poignant views on women’s education and women in STEM. She won the title of Miss South Carolina in 2021 and Miss North Carolina in 2022. After Gabriel faced the controversial allegations, she came up as the deserving candidate to represent the USA in the upcoming pageants.
