Social media users are hoping the ‘BE’ in the 2022 BET Awards stands for Beyoncé, who could take breaths away and “break souls” at Monday’s award show after the recent release of her new single ‘Break My Soul’.

Rumours suggest that Beyoncé, who is no stranger to surprise appearances at the BET Awards, could perform her latest single to promote her upcoming studio album ‘Renaissance’.

In 2016, Beyoncé surprised attendees of the BET Awards through an electrifying performance on ‘Freedom’, a track from her ‘Lemonade’ album. Stomping on water, she performed along with a group of backup dancers, and was later joined by artist Kendrick Lamar for a duet.

With her next album set to drop after six long years, fans of the icon, collectively known as the Beyhive, speculate that she could unveil the music video of ‘Break My Soul’ at the award show.

“Beyonce absolutely HAS to open the BET Awards with this. We need it! Do y’all know what we just lived through?!” one user wrote on Twitter.

Another user added, “They been setting up security for the BET awards for like 2 weeks i feel like Beyoncé must be sliding thru.”

While Queen B’s appearance remains unconfirmed for now, the award show is set to be a star-studded event with performers such as Lizzo, Ella Mai, Chance the Rapper, Jack Harlow, Chlöe, Latto, Babyface, Roddy Ricch, and GIVĒON.

The BET Awards will be hosted by actor Taraji P. Henson, who recently told The Hollywood Reporter that the ceremony recognizes the “accomplishments of Black people,” and is “a safe place for them to celebrate each other for them to get the shine that they wouldn’t necessarily get on a different kind of stage.”
