Brooklyn Nine-Nine is gearing up for its eighth and final season with key art celebrating the NBC series.

On Wednesday, the show’s official Twitter account posted a photograph boasting the whole Brooklyn Nine-Nine family,  from Andy Samberg’s Jake Peralta to Andre Braugher’s Captain Holt and his pet corgi, Cheddar. “Hop in. Season 8 is going to be a wild ride,” read the social media post, which also touts the final season’s fall premiere date.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which premieres on NBC on August 12th, features Detective Jake Peralta (Samberg) as he patrols the NYPD’s 99th Precinct alongside his coworkers and their stoic, ever-professional Capt. Raymond Holt (Braugher). In the final season,  Jake and the squad must try to balance their personal lives and their professional lives over the course of a very difficult year.

Chelsea Peretti’s performance as Gina Linetti was delusional, narcissistic perfection, and her departure from the show upset many fans. Gina Linetti appeared as a series regular from Seasons 1 through Season 5 and as a guest star in Season 6.

However, she may pay a visit to the 99th Precinct during Season 8. Chelsea Peretti indicated last year on Twitter that she could participate in the last season, but nothing has been confirmed. Many Brooklyn Nine-Nine cast members expressed their support on Twitter, including Stephanie Beatriz, who joked that she was already writing a part for Gina.

Around the same time, executive producer Dan Goor told TV Line that he regretted not being able to include Gina in Season 7 and wanted to “make sure” she was included in Season 8.

However, all of this occurred before the writing crew deleted a few episodes in the aftermath of BLM, so a possible Gina episode might have been removed in favour of a more conscious narrative. Not that a better sense of social responsibility is a bad thing, just something to keep in mind when it comes to extraneous plots and guest stars.
