Following the 2022 Oscar slap scandal, some are calling Will Smith a “hypocrite” after a video of him apparently giving a group of people a deep-fake image of Margot Robbie on a bus went viral. Over the past ten years, Will Smith and Margot Robbie have appeared in a number of projects together, including the 2015 movie Focus and the Suicide Squad series.

A bus video with the caption “Will Smith embarrasses Margot Robbie on a bus with the Suicide Squad cast” was posted on Reddit. The video only lasts for about seven seconds and offers very little context.

Will Smith and Margot Robbie can be seen riding in a minibus with other Suicide Squad cast members and friends in the footage. According to reports, the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air actor is holding up his phone, which is showing an obscene deep-fake photo of Margot Robbie.

Someone records the exchange as he looks to be revealing it to the group. Smith joins the group in breaking out in laughing as Robbie mutters, perhaps in jest, “They hacked my phone!” The camera then pans around to show various group members’ reactions; some laugh out loud while others display shock.

Some internet users have reacted negatively to the video, with many accusing Will Smith of being “hypocritical” for having the image on his phone and showing it to others after slapping Chris Rock for making a joke about his wife.

“Slap the phone across the face?” one Reddit user wrote. “Shows deep fakes of Margot but slaps Chris Rock for making a joke about his wife?” said another.

“WILL SMITH WAS SHOWING OFF P*RN THAT LOOKED LIKE MARGOT ROBBIE IN A BUS IN FRONT OF HER!!!!?” a shocked Twitter user wrote.

Some fans, however, believed that everything might have been done in good faith because the little clip lacks any meaningful context.

What if the person who is the target of the fakes is also amusing themselves? a Reddit member posed. Like, a genuine “this sh*t is too funny, let me show you” kind of laugh? Different situation, don’t you think???”

Will Smith and Margot Robbie took some suggestive images together in a photo booth in 2013, which fuelled rumors that there was something romantic going on between the two. The images were commissioned by a production firm, and the “cast and crew” were fully aware that the photos were being taken, a source informed E! News, dispelling the claims. Also, they made it clear that Smith and Robbie are only friends.
