Meat Loaf, legendary singer and actor, has died at the age of 74. According to a statement posted on his official Facebook page, his wife and daughters, as well as close friends, were with him in his final hours. There was no mention of a cause of death.

“Our hearts are devastated,” the message began, before concluding, “From his heart to your spirits, don’t ever stop rocking.” Meat Loaf’s true name was Marvin Lee Aday, and he was best known for songs such as Bat Out Of Hell and I’ll Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That).

“Our hearts are shattered to announce that the amazing Meat Loaf died away today with his wife Deborah by his side,” Meat Loaf’s family said in a statement. Pearl and Amanda, as well as close friends, have been with him for the past 24 hours.

His incredible career spanned six decades, during which he sold over 100 million albums worldwide and appeared in over 65 films, including ‘Fight Club’, ‘Focus’, ‘Rocky Horror Picture Show’, and ‘Wayne’s World’.

‘Bat Out of Hell’ is still in the top ten best-selling albums of all time. We know how much he meant to so many of you, and we are grateful for all of your love and support as we go through this difficult time of mourning the loss of such an inspirational artist and wonderful man. Meat Loaf was both an actor and a singer. He performed in films such as Fight Club and was a member of the original cast of the stage musical The Rocky Horror Picture Show. His most recent album, Braver Than We Are, was published in 2016. Meat Loaf was most recently seen in episodes of the TV programs Glee and Elementary.
