The trailer of the second prequel series of Yellowstone, 1923, has just been released. The first prequel series of the series, 1883, was released in 2021. All of the stories center around different generations of the Dutton family. In the latest spinoff, Harrison Ford will star as Jacob Dutton, an ancestor of the original series’ lead, John Dutton (played by Kevin Costner). Helen Mirren will play the role of Cara, the wife of Jacob.

1923 is set to take place during a time when the United States was battling a number of ailments, including the Great Depression, Prohibition, and the Spanish flu

The trailer of the spinoff series was released with the fifth season’s fourth episode. Taylor Sheridan, the creator of the original series, is behind the spinoff. In the trailer, Cara’s line, “Greed will be the thing that kills us all”, is echoed by the problems the Duttons face during the turn of the century. The Duttons still have to fight off people who are eager to take their away from them. Cara looks like a formidable force with dialogues like “Men kill quick with a bullet or a noose, but their fight is with me and I kill much slower”.

Although the series was initially planned to be titled 1932, the makers decided to change the time in which it was set to 1923. This gave them the opportunity to deal with issues like post-War American problems, the Depression, and its effects on the Duttons’ home state of Montana.

1923 is set to release on December 18 on Paramount+.
