The Coca Cola Company has decided to recall some of its products due to their possible contamination with metal bolts and washers. These products include Minute Maid Lemonade and Punch Drinks. Products are being dropped from the Minute Maid line due to their harmful nature which is likely to adversely affect the consumer’s health, authorities said.

According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the recalled products were distributed in the states of Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New York, North Carolina, Maryland, Virginia, Maine and New Jersey.

The recalled products include: 

  1. Minute Maid Berry Punch, 59 Fl. oz. (1.8 QT) 1.75 L, Unit UPC: 025000047664, Date codes Jan0422 NP and Jan0522 NP, Batch 0010323455 and 0010259344
  2. Minute Maid Strawberry Lemonade, 59 Fl. oz.(1.8 Qt) 1.75L, Unit UPC: 025000019708, Date code: Jan0322 NP, Batch: 0010259346
  3. Minute Maid Fruit Punch, 59 fl. oz.(1.8 QT)1.75 L, Unit UPC: 025000047725, Date Code: JAN0522 NP Batch: 0010323454

The Food and Drug Administration is hopeful that the consumers of the company may have the products at home without consuming them since the expiry dates of the products extend to January 2022, as reported by Coca Cola.

Although Coca Cola has not yet disclosed if the products are harmful to the health of its subjects, it is essential for the Minute Maid products to not be ingested due to the danger they might pose. 

According to the reports published by Medline Plus, a consumer is likely to present heavy metal poisoning, if contaminated liquid and solid food items are consumed by them.

Heavy metal poisoning is hazardous to health and has various adverse consequences which include organ damage, behavior changes, and difficulties with thinking and memory. One is recommended to go through a metal blood test incase aware of its consumption through eateries and drinks. 

The FDA has recommended all individuals with the above three items, to immediately report the same to a local office where further procedure will be told to avoid any mistakes.
