A new video that has surfaced on the Internet is going viral with a woman giving a unique twist to steamed vadas, making it look very much like the novel coronavirus.

While people have been trying to live through the pandemic for the past two years with prolonged lockdown, new variants and subsequent waves; there has been no dearth for creativity during the lockdown at all. Like Dalgona coffee that trended in the first lockdown, ‘corona vada’ has now gained the attention of the masses.

In the video that’s trending on Twitter, the chef begins making the vada in an unthreatening, unsurprising way, starting to make a dough with rice flour, cumin seeds and salt. She kneads it with lukewarm water and is then seen using potato, along with onion, grated carrots, capsicum, curry leaves and some basic masalas for the stuffing. It is during filling the stuffing into the dough balls her creativity takes a different route to make it look like the virus.

The chef coats the balls with soaked rice. This makes it resemble the crowns of the Covid-19 virus. Though it doesn’t really look like it when she gives them the unique twist, they gain an uncanny resemblance to the virus once steamed.

A Twitter user who identified herself as Mimpi shared the detailed recipe for the virus-themed snack. She captioned it, ‘Corona vada! Bharat ki naari sab par bhaari!’ Her creativity was appreciated by many users who found it interesting and were thrilled by the resemblance.

People have been trying to deal with the pandemic in their own ways. The virus went on to inspire many virus-themed foods. From a West Bengal sweet shop’s Corona Misti to Vietnamese chef’s Corona Burger, people have been coming up with virus-shaped or virus-themed dishes; devouring it in a bid to end it!
