Ganesh Chaturthi is here and there cannot be a better way to welcome Bappa but to offer his favourite Modaks. This sweet is offered to Lord Ganesha as a primary prasad and is a must for the puja. While the traditional ukdiche modak will surely rule the festival, you can always experiment with the sweet and give it new flavours.

Here, we are sharing some mouthwatering modak recipes with you to try this Ganesh Chathurthi and make Bappa happy.

Sugar-free modak 

Most people these days suffer from diabetes and those who don’t should learn to limit their consumption. Traditional modak can be too sweet and unhealthy. Thus, actor Juhi Parmar shared a healthy sugar-free modak recipe on her Instagram.

This recipe involves all the healthy ingredients like Dates, Walnuts, Almonds, Cashews, Cinnamon powder and Ghee.

It can be prepared with a few easy steps. First, de-seed and grind dates then lightly roast dry fruits and coarsely grind them. Now, mix with ground dates and add cinnamon powder.

Now mix the ingredients well and apply little
ghee in the modak mould. Put the prepared mixture in the mould and fill it
properly Your sugar-free healthy modak is ready.

Chocolate modak

While traditional modaks are all good for adults how about some chocolate modaks for kids this year? All you need is 2 cups ricotta cheese, 1 cup sweetened condensed milk, Half cup semi-sweet chocolate chips1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder and pista or almond flakes for garnishing.

Method: Heat a heavy bottom pan on medium heat and then add ricotta cheese to it, then stir well and cook for five to eight minutes. When the ricotta cheese starts to thicken, pour it into the condensed milk and stir for four to five minutes until it completely mixes up. Let the mixture cool completely.

Mint modak

Mint Modak is a spot on refreshing sweet for this scorching summer. The ingredients needed for this recipe are -Dough, rice flour, grated jaggery, grated coconut, cardamom (elaichi) powder, chopped mint, sunflower oil.

Method for filling: Heat a deep non-stick pan, add the grated jaggery and cook on a slow flame for one to two minutes or till it turns into a paste and stir continuously. Now, add the coconut, mint and cardamom powder, mix well and cook on a slow flame for 4 to 5 minutes or till all the moisture evaporates and the mixture thickens

Now fill this filling in dough and give it usual modak shapes and your mint flavoured modaks are ready.
