President-elect Joe Biden has said he asked Dr. Anthony Fauci to join his COVID team on Thursday, in an interview to CNN’s .
Biden said he has asked Dr Fauci to be a chief medical adviser and part of his COVID-19 response team when his administration begins next year. According to Biden, the conversation about his role happened Thursday afternoon.
“I asked him to stay on the exact same role he’s had for the past several presidents, and I asked him to be a chief medical adviser for me as well, and be part of the Covid team,” Biden said.
It was reported earlier that Fauci had plans of a meeting with team Biden.
Fauci has had a very difficult relationship with President Donald Trump over coronavirus response. Trump has always been seen flouting several norms recommended by Fauci.
