The man, Arun Kumar recently recovered from COVID-19 and was constantly experiencing dizziness and faintings from the past few days. He was then referred to IGIMS where he was detected with mucormycosis or black fungus.
About Kumar’s condition, Dr Manish Mandal, the medical superintendent of IGIMS, told Livehindustan that the patient developed black fungus through the nose, which fortunately couldn’t spread to his eyes. His eyes remained completely unharmed during the operation, which is quite unlikely in most black fungus cases.
