Former NFL player Philip Adams shot and killed five people and later possibly committed suicide in South Carolina as per the York County Sheriff’s Office. 

He was earlier identified as a suspect in the South Carolina shooting in Rock Hill, a US report said, quoting a source in the knowhow of the developments.

Adams fatally shot Dr Lesslie (70), his wife Barbara Lesslie (69), as well as their grandchildren Adah Lesslie (9) and Noah Lesslie (5) were all found dead inside the residence on Wednesday evening.

James Lewis (38) who was working at the home, was found dead outside the house from being shot.

According to Associated Press, Adam’s parents live near Dr Robert Lesslie’s home
in Rock Hill, where the shooting occurred, and the player had been treated by the
doctor in the past.

The 33-year-old is reported to have killed himself after
midnight using a .45-caliber weapon. And was found by personnel from the York
County Sheriff’s Office in a nearby house after hours of searching.

A sixth individual is also admitted in the hospital after
suffering gunshot wounds.

“We have found the person we believe is responsible and we
are with him at this time and that’s all I can say about the suspect.

We are currently at his house and we are serving a search
warrant”, AP quoted York County Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Trent Faris as
saying.

Adams played for six teams over five seasons of the NFL, and
participated in a total of 75 matches.

He reportedly played for teams like San Francisco 49ers, New
England Patriots, and New York Jets, as well as Seattle and Oakland.

He retired in 2015.
