India recorded 16,752 coronavirus cases for the third consecutive day, according to data updated by the Union Health Ministry on Friday. The infection tally stand at 1,10,96,731 while the recoveries have surged to 10,775,169. With 113 new deaths, the death toll increased to 157,051, according to the data updated at 8 am.

The number of active cases increased to 164,511, which accounts for 1.41% of the total infections, the data stated.

The number of people who have recovered from the disease surged to 10,775,169, which translates into a national recovery rate of 97.17%.

India’s COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7; 30 lakh on August 23; 40 lakh on September 5; and 50 lakh on September 16.

It went past 60 lakh on September 28; 70 lakh on October 11; 80 lakh on October 29; 90 lakh on November 20; and the one-crore mark on December 19.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 2,15,435,383 samples have been tested up to February 26, of which 773,918 samples were tested on Friday.

So far, 1,43,01,266 people have been vaccinated against the deadly virus in the country, according to the data updated by the health ministry.
