India in the last 24 hours recorded 12,286 cases of coronavirus, taking the COVID-19 tally on Tuesday to 11,124,527. The COVID-19 cases increased by over 55% as on Sunday, 15510 cases of coronavirus were recorded. The death toll from COVID-19 jumped to 157,248 after 91 people died on Monday from the coronavirus infection. 

The tally of recovered COVID-19 cases jumped to 10,798,921 after 12,464 people recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours. There are currently 168,358 active cases of coronavirus in India. 

The Indian Council of Medical Research on Tuesday said that 759,283 samples for COVID-19 were tested on Monday, adding that a total of 217,618,057 samples for coronavirus have been tested in India as of March 2021. 

India is the second worst-hit nation globally by the COVID-19 pandemic, after the United States.
