India on Tuesday recorded 3,60,960 cases of COVID-19, taking the
tally of coronavirus infection to 1,79,97,267. A total of 3293 people died from the
disease on Tuesday, taking the death toll to 2,01,187.

A total of 2,61,162 people recovered from the infection on Tuesday. With this, a total of 1,48,17,371 have recovered from the disease. There are
currently, 29,78,709 active cases of coronavirus in India.

On Tuesday, 17,23,912 samples for COVID-19 were tested in India,
the Indian Council for Medical Research said. As of April 27, a total of 28,27,03,789 samples for COVID-19 have been tested in India.

A total of 14,78,27,367 people have at least the first shot
of the COVID-19 vaccine in India since January 16, when the mass immunisation
drive against coronavirus was kicked off.

Covaxin, developed at Hyderabad’s Bharat Biotech, and
Covishield, manufactured at the Pune-based Serum Institute, are the two
vaccines being administered in the country.

The former is the indigenous jab developed at Hyderabad’s
Bharat Biotech. Covishield is AstraZeneca/Oxford’s jab that is being
manufactured at the Pune-based Serum Institute. A third vaccine, Russia’s
Sputnik V, has also been approved by India’s drug regulator for emergency
use.
