For the ones who love to travel, last year must have been a sad tale. However, this year there is a plethora of vacation possibilities. So, here is a list of long weekends this year:

January

This year in January there are some delightful long weekends. On the occasion of Pongal or Makar Sankranti, there is a three-day-long holiday from January 14 (Friday) to January 16 (Sunday).

February

You can have a four-day long weekend if you take a leave on February 28 (Monday) because Mahashivratri can be extended from February 26 to March 1 (Tuesday).

March

As Holi falls on March 18, which is a Friday, you’ll have three days holiday or you can go on a three-day-long mini vacation.

April

Starting on April 14 (Thursday) celebrated as Ambedkar Jayanti, the holiday extends to Good Friday on April 15 and enters the weekends.

May

Looks like this month is perfect for some outings. In this month you can have a four-day extended holiday if you take an extra leave on May 2 (Monday) because from April 30 (Saturday) to Eid-al-Fitr on May 3 (Tuesday) are holidays and from May 14 (Saturday) to May 16 (Monday), you will get a three-day long weekend because of Buddha Purnima.

June

There aren’t any long weekends in June.

July

In July we have Rath Yatra which is on July 1 (Friday) and the holiday spills over to the weekend and ends on July 3 (Sunday), giving you three days for your outings.

August

If you apply for leave on August 12 (Friday), you can get a five-day-long holiday from Raksha Bandhan on August 11 (Thursday) till Independence Day on August 15 (Monday). Also, this month has a three-day long weekend from Janmashtami on August 19 (Friday) to August 21 (Sunday).

September

Starting from Onam on September 8 (Thursday), apply for your leave on September 9 (Friday) and extend the holiday till September 11 (Sunday).

October

As Dussehra falls in the middle of the week, on October 5 (Wednesday) you could apply your leave October 3-4 (Monday-Tuesday) or October 6-7 (Thursday-Friday) to have five days holidays. If you cannot effort your leave, still you will get a three-day long weekend from October 22 (Saturday) to Diwali on October 24 (Monday).

November

You can extend your weekends starting November 5 (Saturday) by taking leave on November 7 (Monday) and making it a four-day-long holiday as Guru Nanak Jayanti falls on November 8 (Tuesday).

December does not have any holidays as Christmas falls on  Sunday.
