With COVID-19 cases rising in the state, Karnataka Chief Minister
B S Yeddyurappa on Thursday announced an extension to the COVID-19 induced
lockdown in Karnataka from June 7 to June 14.

“We had earlier announced stringent restrictions from May 24 to June 7 to contain the spread of Coronavirus.

Though the infections have reduced, the spread of the disease is still on. It has been decided to extend the restrictions by a week following the recommendation of experts till June 14 morning”, Yeddyurappa was quoted by PTI as saying in a press conference.

What is open:

·       
Essential stores will remain open from 6 am to
10 am.

·       
Essential services, too, will be functional for
the same time period.

·       
After 10 am, only construction, manufacturing
and agricultural sectors will be allowed to remain open

What is closed:

·       
Movement of people has been restricted apart
from emergencies and vaccination

·       
All enterprises apart from those belonging to
aforementioned sectors will remain closed after 10 am.

·       
Public transport will remain shut.

The curbs, which first came into effect on April 27, were extended till May 24 morning by the Chief Minister on May 10, only to be further extended till June 7.
