Manchester City unveiled statues honouring club legends Vincent Kompany and David Silva ahead of their Saturday clash against Arsenal

City manager Pep Guardiola was asked about the possibility of receiving a permanent statue by the club for himself considering his continuous success with the Premier League championsHow Cristiano Ronaldo’s ex-teammates, Sir Alex talked him into Man Utd move.

Guardiola jokingly told BT Sport his lack of hair might stand in the way of him getting a permanent statue at the club.

“I don’t have hair!” Guardiola said.

Meanwhile, the statues of Kompany and Silva became a hot talking point among the fans with the two City legends expressing their gratitude towards the club’s gesture.

“Being at City changed my life. I’m proud of what we did together and I feel emotional that it has been recognised like this.”

“When I first saw the statue, I felt good, I thought it was like me. This statue really represents the way I like to play, I love the pose the sculptor has chosen,” Silva told the reporters.

Supporters of the club too joined in the fun, sharing pictures of the statues and taking part in honouring the contributions of the former two players.

All the chatter around the two statues unfolded in the lead up to City’s match against Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium where the champions look to put Mikel Arteta’s Gunners under pressure.

Guardiola’s side will look to score a win Saturday afternoon and make it two in two after having thrashed Norwich 5-0 last weekend.
