President Ram Nath Kovind was on Saturday shifted to the All India Institue of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) where doctors have advised him to undergo a bypass procedure, slated to be performed on March 30, a statemtent from the Rashtrapati Bhawan confirmed.

The President’s health is currently stable and he is under the supervision of experts, the statemet added, acording to PTI.  

“The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind has been shifted to the AIIMS, Delhi, in the afternoon today (March 27, 2021). Post investigations, doctors have advised him to undergo a planned bypass procedure which is expected to be performed on the morning of March 30, Tuesday,” the statement read. 

“The President’s health is stable and he is under the care of the experts at the AIIMS.”

President Kovind, 75, underwent a health checkup at the Army’s Research and Referral hospital on Friday after complaining of discomfort in his chest. He was visited by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in the hospital later that day. 

“President of India visited Army Hospital (R&R) following chest discomfort this morning. He is undergoing routine check-up and is under observation,” the hospital said on Friday.
