The Delhi High Court on Saturday said that if any official, belonging
to central, state or local administration was found hindering the process of supplying
oxygen in the capital, then the court would ‘hang them’, reports PTI.

The observation, made by Justices Vipin Sanghi and Rekha
Palli, occurred during the hearing of a plea by Maharaja Agrasen Hospital regarding
shortage of oxygen for significantly ill COVID-19 patients.

“We will hang that man”, the bench was quoted by PTI as saying
to Delhi government, while also asking it to report the issue to Centre, so
that action could be taken against concerned officials.

The court also probed Centre as to when would the 480 metric tonnes of oxygen, as promised to the Delhi government, arrive in the
capital.

“You (Centre) had assured us (on April 21) that 480 MT
per day will reach Delhi. Tell us when will it come? The 480 MT per day is
still to see the light of the day,” PTI further quoted HC as saying.

This comes after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal stated
in a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other Chief Ministers on
Friday that Delhi was getting only 380 MT of oxygen every day, and that on the
same day, even 300 MT of oxygen had not arrived.
