The COVID-19 tally of India touched 1,11,56,923 on Thursday after 17,047 new cases of coronavirus were recorded in the last 24 hours. With 89 new deaths recorded on Wednesday. India's death toll from COVID-19 has now climbed to 1,57,435, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare data.

The tally of recovered COVID-19 cases reached 1,08,26,075 on Thursday as 14,031 people recovered from the coronavirus infection on Friday. There are currently 1,73,413 active cases of coronavirus in India.

According to ICMR, a total of 21,91,78,908 samples tested for COVID-19 up to March 3. Of these, 7,75,631 samples were tested on Wednesdaty.

India is the second worst-hit nation worldwide from the coronavirus the country's COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7; 30 lakh on August 23; 40 lakh on September 5; and 50 lakh on September 16. The tally went past 60 lakh on September 28; 70 lakh on October 11; 80 lakh on October 29; 90 lakh on November 20; and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19.
