India recorded 20,021 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, according to the Health Ministry's data released on Monday. 279 deaths were recorded on Sunday.
Thus, India has recorded 10,207,871 coronavirus cases and 147,901 deaths until now.
There are 277,301 active virus cases in the country, while 9,782,669 have recovered.
168,818,054 samples have been tested for the novel coronavirus, till December 27, including the 715,357 samples tested on Sunday, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said.
India recorded its first virus case on January 30. It has since emerged as the second-worst hit nation by COVID-19.
The first case of the novel coronavirus was recorded 12 months ago in the central Chinese city of Wuhan. It has globally infected over 80.7 million people and killed more than 1.76 million of them.
