India records 44,376 new COVID-19 cases in past 24 hours, 481 deaths

India recorded 44,376 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, the Health Ministry's tally released on Wednesday showed 481 people died of the disease in the past 24 hours.
The country has recorded 92,22,217 cases of novel coronavirus and 1,34,699 deaths, till now.
There are 4,44,746 active COVID-19 cases in the country, while 86,42,771 have recovered.
13,48,41,307 samples for the novel coronavirus were tested till November 24, including the 11,59,032 samples tested on Tuesday.
India reported its first COVID-19 case on January 30. It has now emerged as the second-worst hit nation by the virus.
The United States remains the worst-hit nation, with over 12.5 million cases and more than 259,874 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University's tally.
The novel coronavirus was first reported in the central Chinese city of Wuhan in December, last year. It has globally infected more than 59.6 million people and killed over 1.4 million of them.
