India reported 14,313 new COVID-19 cases, which is the lowest in 224 days. 181 new deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours, according to Indian Health Ministry data released on Tuesday. This takes the country's COVID-19 related death toll to 4,50,963.

After Tuesday's addition, India now has 2,14,900 active COVID-19 cases, which is the lowest in the last 212 days. Active cases account for less than 1% of total cases, currently at 0.63%, which is the lowest since March 2020.

About the COVID-19 vaccination, India has successfully administered 95,89,78,049 crores of COVID-19 vaccines under the world largest inoculation drive. Out of this figure,  65,86,092 vaccines were given in the last 24 hours  

As many as 58,50,38,043 samples were tested for COVID-19 up to October 11. Of these 11,81,766 samples were tested on Monday, October 11, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) data showed.

Meanwhile, 26,579 people recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours, taking India's total recovery numbers to 3,33,20,057 India's recovery rate on Tuesday was recorded at 98.04 %, which is so far the highest since March 2020, the ministry said.

India's COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20 lakh-mark on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19.

India crossed the grim milestone of two crore on May 4 and three crore on June 23.
