India vs Australia 2020: Probable XI for the Aussies as they take on the Men in Blue
- Steve Smith and David Warner will return to face India after they missed out in 2018
- Marcus Labuschagne has the possibility to become a big name in the Australia test squad
- The Aussies will be looking to make a comeback by adding tested names like Moises Henriques
Ahead of a fantastic year-end filled with cricket after months of no cricketing action, Australia is ready to host India in a T20I series, an ODI series as well as a Test series, with three matches to be played in all three formats.
The Australian squad prepping to take on the Indian side has reasons to look forward to, as Steve Smith and David Warner, the two bating mavericks for the Aussies will be present this time. In the Indian team’s tour of Australia back in 2018-2019, neither of the two were able to participate in the series due to ball tampering charges.
Alongside Smith and Warner, Australia will be looking to pick a perfectly suited team to compete against the Indian squad based on the format of cricket played.
Keeping in mind India’s batting prowess and bowling depth in ODI and T-20I formats, Australia would be meaning to build up strong partnerships in order to anchor their batting performance. The inclusion of Marcus Labuschagne in the Test squad, thus, puts up a solid ground for the Aussie batting line-up to revolve and grow upon in the dead centre.
Warner’s form form in the recently concluded Indian Premier League will be a sure add-on for the Australia side. The versatile batsman who can slowly pick up pace as and when required will be crucial for the Aussies to score some crucial points. New faces like Andrew Tye, Ashton Agar and Cameron Green will interesting to observe against a tried and tested Indian side.
In the Test format, James Pattinson seems like a probable inclusion due to the dynamic, classic line-and-length characteristics he brings to the pitch. For the same characteristic similarity, Australia and NSW T-20 veteran Moises Henriques could be an important inclusion into the T-20 squad for Australia, as his his expertise with both the bat and the ball might turn into an advantage for Australia.
Last but not the least, Steve Smith will be making a return this season with his eyes on the prize. After a rather erratic form in the IPL this year, even more so. Smith’s experience as a technically talented batsman and the previous stint as a Test captain can possibly come in handy for the Kangaroos.
All in all, the certainty that it will be nothing less than a spectacular clash between two behemoths throughout the year-end and the beginning of 2021 is a guarantee few would be willing to disagree with in the coming days.
The ODI series starts on November 27.
