A vehicle carrying a marriage party collided with a stone-laden truck resulting in the death of 13 people in Dhupguri city of Jalpaiguri district in West Bengal on Tuesday night. Ten others were severely injured in the
mishap that occured reportedly , due to poor visibility, reports PTI

The cars of the marriage party was going towards Dhupguri on the wrong side of the road when a truck filled with stones collided with the a vehicle, according to a senior police official.

The accident occurred due to reduced visibility caused by dense smog in the area.

Among the killed were four children.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over loss of life due to road crash and announced ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh each from PMNRF to the victims.

“Accident in Jalpaiguri is extremely anguishing. In this time of sadness, prayers with bereaved families. May the injured recover soon” ANI quoted Modi as saying

A compensation amount of 50,000 will also be given to all those injured, announced the Prime Minister’s office on Wednesday.
