Flights from the US carrying COVID-19 supplies, as part of the United States’ assistance to India, touched down in New Delhi
on Friday. The assistance from the US to India as the latter deals
with a major spike in both COVID-19 cases and deaths that have spiralled out of
control in recent weeks, reported news agency ANI, further noting that more such
flights are expected in the coming weeks.
“The first of several emergency #COVID19 relief shipments
from the United States has arrived in India! Building on over 70 years of
cooperation, the United States stands with India as we fight the COVID-19
pandemic together”, ANI also quoted the US Embassy in India as saying.

Reportedly, the current supplies include:

200 size D oxygen cylinders with regulators
·
223 size H oxygen cylinders with regulators
·
210 pulse oximeters
·
180,000 Abbott Rapid Diagnostic Test Kits
·
84,000 N95 face masks
The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs tweeted out
that the customs team in the airport had made swift clearances of the relief
material.

Supplies arriving next week will include, as per ANI, oxygen
concentrators and Oxygen Generation Units, PPE kits, materials for manufacturing
vaccines, as well as therapeutic and public health assistance.
