An Air India flight from Dubai overshot the runway while landing at the Karipur airport in Kozhikode on Friday. Images from the airport showed the plane had broken into two on landing. The plane was carrying 189 passengers and 6 crews members.

On July 17, 2000: Over 60 people were killed in a plane crash, the flight was a scheduled domestic passenger flight operated by Alliance Air, a subsidiary of the airline Indian, from Kolkata’s Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport to Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. The accident took place in Patna.

On 1 January 1978: An Air India Flight 855 scheduled for Bombay crashedAll 213 passengers and crew on board were killed in the plane crash.

On 14 February 1990: Indian Airlines Flight 605 crashed while attempting to land at Bangalore, killing 92 of 146 people.

On 19 October 1988: Indian Airlines Flight 113 operating from Mumbai to Ahmedabad that crashed on its final approach to Ahmedabad airport on 19 October 1988, killing 133 of the 135 people on board.
