Ving Rhames offered his award to nominee Jack Lemmon (1998)
In 1998, actor Ving Rhames won the Golden Globe award in the best actor (television movie) for 'Don King: Only in America'. After the award announcement, winner Rhames asked actor Jack Lemmon, who was nominated in the same category for '12 Angry Men', to join him on stage.
The audience gave Lemmon a standing ovation as he reached the stage and winner Rhames gave him his award
"I feel that being an artist is about giving, and I'd like to give this to you, Mr Jack Lemmon," Rhames said.
Calling Rhames's performance "brilliant", Lemmon said, "That is one of the nicest, sweetest moments I have ever known in my life."
According to IMDb, Rhames refused to take the award back after which the organisers of Globe made another award and sent it to the winner.
Angelina Jolie's literal 'pool party' at Golden Globe venue
Actor Angelina Jolie took the home the Golden Globe trophy in 1999 for her performance in 'Gia', in which she played drug addict model who died of AIDS-related complications at age 26.
Jolie made it clear before the ceremony that she would take a literal splash if she wins the award and the actor kept her word by jumping into the pool at the Beverly Hilton. She pulled a journalist in with her.
Jeremy Renner's 'Globes' comment on Jennifer Lopez
Avenger's actor Jeremy Renner landed himself in a trouble after he made an allegedly sexist comment on singer Jennifer Lopez during the Golden Globe ceremony in 2015.
The incident happened when Renner and Lopez were called on stage to present an award and latter asked her co-presenter if he should open the envelope, telling him: "I have the nails."
To this, Renner immediately responded by saying "You've got the globes, too". The statement triggered a wave of complaints on social media that he had sexually harassed her on live TV
