Veteran Bollywood actor and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Hema Malini has stoked a controversy after she was photographed worshipping and performing ‘aarti’ with her footwear on. As per media reports, the incident took place on Sunday in Mathura when Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath performed ‘aarti’ at the banks of the river Yamuna.

Malini too participated in the event convened for the inception of the Vrindavan Kumbh Mela.

The veteran actor is BJP’s MP from Mathura.

The Vrindavan Kumbh Mela will go on till 40 days. Several priests and hermits participate in it.

In what can be called a coronavirus-induced twist, Malini in November performed a ‘hawan’, which was assisted by a priest virtually. The ‘hawan’ was performed on her daughter Esha Deol’s birthday.
