Veteran Bollywood actor Naseeruddin Shah was admitted to Hinduja Hospital in Khar, Mumbai after being diagnosed with a small pneumonia patch, news agency ANI reported.

Adding to the health update, his wife Ratna Pathak Shah said that he will be discharged soon.

According to his manager, the actor is ‘responding well’ to the treatment, Hindustan Times reported.

As per media report, Naseeruddin Shah has been under medical supervision for two days and it was necessary for him to be hospitalised after a patch was found in his lungs.

“He has been in the hospital for two days. He’s under medical supervision. He was brought in for pneumonia. There was a patch found in his lungs and it became necessary for him to be hospitalised immediately. His condition is stable and he’s responding well to the treatment,” Hindustan Times quoted the Bollywood actor’s manager as saying.

Naseeruddin Shah is the winner of the Padma Shri and the Padma Bhushan. In 2020, he was seen in Mee Raqsam, and Bandish Bandits.

He was seen in Raprasad ki Tehrvi earlier this year.

A theatre artist, the 70-year-old has appeared in an array of films, ranging from commercial to art. He has also featured in many streamlined projects.

A 3-time national award winner, Naseeruddin Shah was born on July 20, 1950. He did his schooling from St. Anselm’s Ajmer and St Joseph’s College, Nainital. In 1971, he graduated from Aligarh Muslim University and following that he attended the National School of Drama in Delhi.

He became active in Bollywood cinemas with the 1980 film Hum Paanch. In 1982, he featured in ‘Dil Aakhir Dil Hai’ opposite Rakhi; the film was directed by Ismail Shroff. One of his most sought after films, Masoom, was released in 1983 and was shot at St Joseph’s College, Nainital.
