There is a lot of mystery and history in Indian temples. So it doesn’t sound odd when you hear about an 850-year-old temple with a Shivling that changes colour. The historical Rajeshwar Temple in Agra is at least 850 years old, according to the head priest. Tourists throng to this shrine for yet another significant attraction. The Rajeshwar Temple is said to be the place where all your wishes come true.

A well-known myth claims that a Seth from Rajkheda, Rajasthan, was riding a bullock cart with a Shivling from the banks of the Narmada River. Although he had intended to install it in Rajakheda, he shortly passed out in the area where the current temple is located. In his dream, Lord Shiva instructed him to erect the Shivling there. Even after the man disregarded his dream, the Shivling was automatically placed. And it has been there ever since, changing its colour three times a day. During the morning aarti, the colour is white, at midday it is light blue, and during the evening aarti it turns pink.

During the sawan month, the Rajeshwar Temple holds a special aarti that attracts many celebrities. Aartis in Indian temples are renowned for their beauty. In the month of sawan the Rajeshwar Temple welcomes visitors from 4am and shuts its doors at about 10.30pm and a special puja is performed. There is a trust in charge of the old temple. With the assistance of the neighbourhood and the trust, the temple recently underwent some restructuring and enlargement.

Numerous Bollywood stars can also be seen praying at this temple. In preparation for their marriage, Payal Rohatgi and Sangram Singh, a famous couple, held a puja at this temple on July 8, 2022. Given its serene ambience, it is understandable why the couple decided to perform their marital rites at this ancient temple.
