Aliganj assembly constituency has Satyapal Singh Rathaur of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) taking on Saood Ali Khan of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP),  Rameshwar Singh Yadav of the Samajwadi Party (SP), Rahul Kumar Pathak of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and Subhash Chandra of the Congress this year in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

Satyapal Singh Rathaur had won the Aliganj seat in 2017, when the BJP swept Uttar Pradesh winning 312 of UP’s 403 assembly seats. Rathaur had beaten his closest rival Rameshwar Singh Yadav by over 13,851 votes. Rameshwar Singh Yadav had contested that election on a SP ticket.

In 2012, the seat was won by Rameshwar Singh Yadav of the SP.

Aliganj falls under Etah district and the Farrukhabad Lok Sabha constituency, which is made up of five assembly seats.

Mukesh Rajput of the BJP represented Farrukhabad as a member of Parliament in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Rajput defeated Manoj Agarwal from the BSP with a margin of 2,21,702 votes. 

The Aliganj assembly constituency will vote in the third phase of the Uttar Pradesh elections on February 20, 2022, along with 58 other constituencies in 16 districts. Uttar Pradesh will vote in seven rounds, with the last round on March 3.

Results will be declared on March 10, along with those for elections in four other states, including neighbouring Uttarakhand.
