Abhijit Banerjee is an Indian-born American economist known widely for winning the 2019 Nobel Prize in economics along with his wife Esther Duflo and economist Michael Kremer “for their experimental approach to alleviating global poverty.”

Banerjee, a co-founder of the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) and the Ford Foundation International Professor of Economics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), is the author of several books, including ‘Volatility And Growth’ (2005), Understanding Poverty (2006), ‘Poor Economics: A Radical Rethinking of the Way to Fight Global Poverty’, and ‘Good Economics for Hard Times’ (2019).

However, beyond economics, Banerjee has also displayed his prowess as a gourmet chef, exemplified in his book ‘Cooking To Save Your Life’.
