Sarah (a.k.a Sahara) was a female cheetah born in
2001 lived in the Cincinnati Zoo located in Cincinnati in the state of Ohio. She was known to be
the world’s fastest mammal in land and ran approximately 100 meters in just 5.95
seconds in 2012. This feat was achiever by Sarah when she was just 11 years
old. Sarah died on January 22, 2016 at the age of 15.

Sarah arrived at the Cincinnati Zoo at a tender age of 6
weeks. She was raised by Cathryn Hilker (Zoo’s Cat Ambassador Program founder).
Being one of the first cubs of her race to be raised, throughout her lifetime
at the place, had many trainers. While completing tasks, Sarah would challenge
every trainer except her favourite Cathryn Hilker; it was a relationship which every
trainer wished he/she had. Even after Sarah retired, Cathryn would visit her
often.

Sarah, being a cat ambassador, visited scores of schools
over the course of 15 years to raise awareness on the plight of cheetahs. Often
being featured in several online and print magazines.
