Popular colours of the fish include yellow, cream, blue, brown and red. Its most popular variety is the Gosanke.
The Koi fish usually survive well in the temperature range of 15–25 °C (59–77 °F). Due to poor immune systems, they cannot survive in cold winter temperatures for long.
