Answer: June

Akasa Air is the new Indian budget airline backed by business magnate Rakesh Jhunjhunwala. In August 2021, it got the no-objection certificate (NOC) from the Ministry of Civil Aviation to launch commercial flight operations. After receiving the green signal, the airline signed a deal with Boeing in November last year to boy 72 Boeing 737 Max planes. The airline then signed an agreement to purchase CFM LEAP-1B engines to power its aircraft. The overall deal is estimated to be worth USD 4.5 billion.

“We are pleased to partner with CFM International as we embark on an exciting journey to launch the greenest, most affordable and most dependable airline in India. Our partnership with CFM will ensure that we adhere to the world’s highest standards of maintenance and deliver the industry’s best technical dispatch reliability,” Akasa Air CEO Vinay Dube had said in November.

Vinay Dube told PTI on April 26 that 18 aircraft will fly by the end of March 2023.

“With respect to starting the airline, we are extremely thankful to the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the DGCA for their guidance and support on all required regulatory clearances,” he told PTI.

“We have received our NOC and our next key milestone is the Air Operators Permit. We are working closely with the regulatory authorities and following all the required processes to comply with the requirements to obtain this certification. We hope to satisfy all regulatory requirements for this certification at the earliest,” he added.
