Amazon Quiz: These are the astronauts who went aboard which famous mission?

Answer: Apollo-11

Apollo 11 launched on July 16, 1969, from Cape Kennedy with Commander Neil Armstrong, Lunar Module Pilot Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin, and Command Module Pilot Michael Collins onboard by 116 miles into the orbit of Earth.

On July 20, 1969, about 650 million people were tuned in to their television sets, hearing the sounds of Armstrong who said, “…one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind,” according to NASA‘s official website.

The key objectives of the space mission were scientific exploration, television transmission to Earth, seismic experiment package, and Laser Ranging Retroreflector.

The astronauts were required to undertake duties like documenting the moon’s terrain through photographs from still and motion picture cameras. They were also required to collect samples of the moon’s material and safely return to Earth.

However, the key role of Apollo 11 was to successfully finish the national goal created by former US President John F. Kennedy on May 25, 1961, which was to land on the moon and return to Earth safely.
