BCCI President and
former captain of the Indian cricket team Sourav Ganguly engaged in an
hour-long discussion with West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar on Sunday, PTI
reported.

With West Bengal
Assembly elections due in April-May next year, there has been constant speculations
regarding Ganguly jumping into the state’s political fray.

Stating that they
discussed ‘varied issues’, Dhankhar reportedly said that he has accepted Ganguly’s
invitation to visit the Eden Gardens stadium in Kolkata.

While the former
Indian captain did not entertain questions regarding his visit, PTI reported
sources in the Raj Bhavan said that the move has nothing to do with the state’s
politics.

“Had
interaction with ‘Dada’ @SGanguly99 President @BCCI at Raj Bhawan today at 4.30
PM on varied issues.

Accepted his offer
for a visit to Eden Gardens, oldest cricket ground in the country established
in 1864,” The Governor tweeted.

There has since
long been chatter regarding the BJP possibly fielding Ganguly as one of their prime
faces in the state, but nothing has materialised so far.

Ganguly’s visit to
the Governor’s residence lasted about an hour.
