Bollywood actor Amitabh Dayal (51) succumbed to a heart attack, his wife and producer-filmmaker Mrinalini Patil told Indian Express.

The actor was admitted to Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai where he died on Wednesday morning.

“He passed away at 4.30 am today, he was in the hospital for the last few days after suffering a massive heart attack on January 17. He then tested positive for Covid-19 but later on also tested negative,” the outlet quoted Mrinalini.

“We will be doing his last rites in Mumbai. Amitabh’s family is from Chhattisgarh so we are waiting for his relatives to come in before the funeral,” she added.

Amitabh Dayal and Mrinalini tied the knot in the year 2000. He is survived by his wife and daughter.

The late actor last took to his Instagram handle to share a motivational video of himself. Sitting on a hospital bed, Dayal joined his hands and urged his followers to never give up. 

Uploaded four days ago, the Instagram reel was captioned, “never give up … god is waiting to give you the best keep fighting .love all A.D.”

The post has garnered over 10,000 views and several comments. Many Instagram users took to the comments to offer condolences.  One user wrote, “this is really very sad to hear. Still can’t believe he is no more.”

Another user added, “om shanti. Love your fighting spirit sir.”

Dayal’s Instagram handle has over 1,300 followers. His bio reads, “Actor, film producer, content creator.” The bio also includes a link to his YouTube channel.

The actor starred in various films throughout his career, including the Amitabh Bachchan starrer ‘Virrudh’, Raj Babbar’s ‘Dhuaan’, Bhojpuri film ‘Rangdari’, and ‘Kagaar: Life on the Edge’ with Om Puri.

Furthermore, Dayal also worked on a long delayed film project with Dharmendra in 2005, titled ‘Dillagi…Yeh Dillagi’.
