Nationalist
Congress Party supremo Sharad Pawar on Monday courted controversy as he made
a direct reference to the letter written by Maharashtra governor Bhagat Singh
Koshyari to the Chief Minister of the state Uddhav Thackeray, as per PTI report. While talking to reporters,
the NCP chief stated, that anybody with self respect will not continue in the
post.

Pawar said,
“Anyone with self-respect will not
continue in the post. Who are we to make any demand.”

Pawar added,
that even Home Minister Amit Shah had stated that certain use of words in the
letter could have been avoided.

“After the Union home minister’s statement expressing
disappointment over language in the letter, anybody with self- respect will
take a call on whether to continue in the post or not,”  the 79-year-old added.

Koshyari had written a letter the Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray,
asking the Shiv Sena leader if he had “suddenly turned secular.”
The incident caused much uproar in the corridors of power of Maharashtra and
triggered a war of words between the governor and the Chief Minister.

Home Minister Amit Shah had on Saturday had stated, “Koshyari
could have chosen his words better.”

Commenting on speculations that senior BJP leader Eknath Khadse may join
NCP, Pawar weighed in on the issue stating that the former Leader of the Opposition
leader had played a pivotal role in establishing BJP in the western state.

The NCP chief added, “One is bound to feel disturbed if his
contributions and hard work are not taken note of. He may think why shouldn’t
he shift to a party which appreciates his work.”

2016, following allegations of corruption.
