Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor‘s relationship with girlfriend Malaika Arora has often faced the brunt of online trolling for the 12-year age gap between the two celebrities.

Arjun, 36, has finally opened up about it in an interview with Masala.com.

“Firstly, I think that the media is the one who goes through the comments from people. We don’t even look at 90 percent of it so the trolling cannot be given so much importance, because it’s all fake. Those same people will be dying to take a selfie with me when they meet me, so you cannot believe that narrative,” he said.

This obsession with age and using that to contextualise a relationship, he stressed, is a ‘silly thought process’.

“What I do in my personal life is my prerogative. As long as my work is being recognised, the rest is all just a lot of noise. Plus, you can’t be so bothered about whose age is what, so we should just live, let live and move on. I think it’s a silly thought process to look at age and contextualise a relationship,” he added.

Arjun, son of filmmaker Boney Kapoor, spoke about his relationship with his sister Anshula, and step sisters Janhvi and Khushi. Though he confessed to often bullying them with his wit and humour, he said, “I hate creating this fake perception that we are one happy family living under the roof and discussing everything. We have discussed many things, and we continue to do that. But it’s still a very intimate space for us to come out so openly and speak about.”

“I’m always there to give my two cents on my experience,” he said in the interview.

Meanwhile, Arjun recently tested positive for COVID-19 for the second time. His sister Anshula, cousin Rhea Kapoor, and her husband Karan Boolani, have also tested positive.

After a stint at assistant direction for films like ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’ and ‘Salaam-e-Ishq’, Arjun went on to make his acting debut with the film ‘Ishaqzaade’ opposite Parineeti Chopra. The actor has appeared in several projects ever since, including, but not limited to, ‘Gunday’, ‘2 States’, ‘Ki and Ka’, and ‘Half Girlfriend’.

He has the movies ‘Ek Villain Returns’ and ‘Kuttey’ lined up next.
