Famous Mumbai artist Ram Indranil Kamat died by suicide at his Matunga home on Wednesday, Mumbai Police spokesperson N Ambika said, ANI reported.

“A suicide note was found at his home,” she said.

Kamath, a painter, was unmarried and was staying with his mother and sister, reported PTI quoting a Mumbai Police official.

On Wednesday afternoon, he went to the bathroom and did not come out for a long time. His mother later found him motionless in the bathtub, he said.

He was then rushed to a hospital, where he was declared dead.

An accidental death report (ADR) has been registered and investigation is ongoing.

Kamath did not blame anyone for his death in the purported suicide note, an official said, adding that statements of his family members and friends will be recorded, PTI reported.
