Arunachal Pradesh on Sunday became a COVID-19 free state with the only three active cases recovering from the disease, a senior official said. The total number of cases in the north-eastern state were 16,836 in which the recoveries stood at 16,780, State Surveillance Officer Lobsang Jampa said.

Zero fresh COVID-19 cases were reported in the past 24 hours, he added. A total of 56 people have died in the state so far due to the virus with an excellent recovery rate.

The recovery rate of the state is at 99.66%, which is tremendously high. 405,647 people until now have been tested for the virus, including 312 on Saturday, Jampa added.

Meanwhile, State Immunisation Officer (SIO) Dimong Padung said 32,325 health and frontline workers have received vaccine shots in the state so far.

The health department has been carrying out the inoculation drive four days a week – Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
