As Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s ‘Education Model’ received praise in the US and was featured on the front page of the New York Times on Thursday, August 18, his house was raided by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday.

Following the raid, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said the CBI raid at Sisodia’s home was a result of the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) recent performance that has received widespread acclaim, including in the US.

The 54-year-old also added that there have been multiple CBI raids before the one at Sisodia’s house and similar to the past incidents, nothing will be found this time too.

The CBI raided 10 locations in connection with the Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22 on Friday, August 19, including the home of Manish Sisodia. The 50-year-old also holds several other ministries in his portfolio, including Education, Finance, Public Works, Employment, Health and Industries. He holds a total of 18 ministries, the most by any Delhi minister.

“The day Delhi’s Education model was appreciated and Manish Sisodia’s photo appeared on the front page of America’s biggest newspaper NYT, the Centre sent CBI at the residence of Manish,” Kejriwal said on Twitter.

The Delhi CM also welcomed the CBI saying the party will be extending full cooperation.

“CBI is welcome. Will extend full cooperation. Earlier also there were raid and probe. Nothing came out. Nothing will come out now also,” Arvind Kejriwal quipped.

Delhi Lt Governor VK Saxena had recommended a CBI probe to alleged irregularities in the Excise Policy 2021-22 in July, following which he also suspended 11 Excise officials in connection with the issue. Apart from Saxena, Sisodia had also demanded a CBI probe into it.

Similar to Kejriwal, the Delhi Deputy CM also added that the central investigating agency will have the full cooperation of him and the party and said many cases were registered against him in the past, resulting in nothing, something that will be repeated this time too.
